Last Thursday I headed off to Melbourne with a couple of girlfriends for a 'mums minication'. Well, I am back, I survived and had a ball! It was a chocka blocka couple of days that included shopping til we dropped (Amy and Belinda are hardcore fashionistas), getting frocked up for a gala dinner and of course lots of chitta chatta.
Once we entered the car to the airport I don't think we stopped talking, so I guess we were making up for when the kids are around. On arrival, we hit the ground running and beelined for the city where we got lost in Zara for a few hours.....I love Zara, always have since my first experience in Paris - just wish there was one on the coast.
After a relaxing Japanese lunch, a little more shopping (and walking the wrong way) we made it back to the hotel for a speedy change into our evening gowns. I have attended the Sport Australia Hall of Fame dinner since I was inducted in 2006 and it is an amazing night. It is always such a thrill to see the new members being inducted, with plenty of goosebump moments. Glenn McGrath, Kostya Tszyu, Greg Welch, and Layne Beachley were among those inducted with Cathy Freeman being elevated to legend status.
Belinda and Amy were in awe all night (both are sport buffs) with Amy actually wearing the same Carla Zampatti dress as Layne ( I know, what are the odds?). Layne's husband Kirk, nearly walked off with Amy a couple of times (not really) but it we all joked about it. We all think Sally Pearson is a cool gal so we lined up for a snap together also.
9.30 am....can you believe that?....9.30 am is the time we woke, that is unheard of! It was absolutely luxurious though. No sore heads so it was off for a tad more shopping before we caught our flight home. It was a whirlwind trip but a goody, lots of giggles and memories and the end result we were after...relaxed charged mummas. Thanks for joining me ladies, it wouldn't have been the same without you.
