Don't undo your workout with one foul swoop...

Working out as we all know has it's benefits for mind and soul but, and especially in winter, it can set off some serious hunger pains.  Exercising in summer, to me anyways, tends to suppress my appetite but when it's cold there is that tendency to reward ourselves for our efforts.

It shouldn't be seen an excuse NOT to exercise though.  Now is the time to put in the effort so come spring time we look our best when the layers come off.

Sure, these cravings may be real, but it doesn't mean we have to give into them.  Being healthy means making healthy decisions every day. Our bodies are smart and tell us what they want. But in this case, they want to cancel out our workouts. If weight loss is your goal, then calorie deficit is what you need, and post-workout snacks are one of the quickest ways to make it disappear.

Staying on top of our hydration levels is another way to help with satiety.  Drink a tall glass of water or keep sipping while you exercise to curb your urge to snack post workout.

Impulse control is the key to a proper diet and successful weight loss. So, instead of hoofing down a large pancake stack or bacon and eggs after a hitout, choose a low-kilojoule, protein-rich snack to refuel your muscles without undoing all your hard work. There is too much of a good thing also so be mindful of keeping a check on portion sizes.

When it comes to the crunch, this is probably the most important factor that may be hindering your weight loss.  If you are making the effort to workout, don't sabotage all the hard work by eating like you are training for a marathon.
