With a birthday and a my big brother's wedding falling on the same day, it was always destined to be a ripper of a weekend. Here is a recap of our Saturday by the clock.
5.30am - My eldest daughter Ella, turned the big five so it was an early start with excitement bursting to open her presents. Thankful for the fact that I bought most of the presents at the July sales it was just a matter of wrapping and remembering what I had bought! After a quick cereal stop it was off to the beach
7.30am - A local Standup paddle race and play in the sand was the perfect start to the day.
9.30am - Playdate time, with one of Ella's kindy friends popping over for a swim and cupcake gave us the perfect opportunity to get some housework done, laundry and get my head around a wedding speech.
1.00pm - As soon as Summer went down for a sleep, I flaked also. After a late night in Melbourne on Thursday I could hardly keep my eyes open. Decided it wouldn't be a good look so snuck in forty winks.
2.00pm - Time to get ready. A quick side bun and makeup was all that was needed then it was time to turn the attention to the girls. Dresses on, hair brushed, cupcakes in...have we forgot anything?
3.00pm - Arrival time at the wedding reception. Andrew realised he left the camera battery in the charger...lucky for us his parents were around to rush it out (thanks grandma and bobby), with the candles for Ella's cake.
3.30pm - Wedding due to start but with no sign of our parents, Jay was in a bit of a tizz. The decision was made to wait for them and search parties were now in full swing.
3.50pm - Parents finally arrive after getting lost and crashing another wedding. With sighs of relief, the ceremony is given the go ahead. Kate looked absolutely gorgeous.
4.30pm - Cake set up for Ella, and family join in and sing happy birthday
6.00pm - Reception starts and Andrew's parents collect the girls and take them home for bath and dinner.
8.00pm - Speech time. As the Gilbert's are a small bunch with only the four of us there, I felt a need to get up and speak. Halfway through, as I choked up, I was wishing different. Yep, I will always now be known as the one that cried in their speech at the wedding...great!
10.00pm - Time to head home, absolutely exhausted but none the least putting Saturday 13th October 2012 down as a bloody ripper of a day and held close to our hearts forever.xx
