We lost one of our own....

I had planned to do a super dooper blog post with giveaway today, but it didn't seem right after how I have been feeling these past couple of days....

On Wednesday afternoon a young boy drowned whilst competing in the Australian surf lifesaving titles held at Kurrawa Beach, QLD. He was a member of the Maroochydore surf club on the Sunshine Coast and a well regarded junior competitor.

It is sad...for the family, for the club, for the other competitors, for the Surf Lifesaving as a whole. An unforeseen tragedy, that no one could predict, or prevent. 

I was comforted to hear that after consultation with Matthew's parents, the titles will still go ahead in memory of him, a tribute as such. Matthew died doing what he loved and I'm sure he will be looking down upon on the Surf Lifesaving fraternity over the next few days with a smile.
