There have been better weekends...

Yep, I've done it again..for the second time this year I'm injured and feeling sorry for myself.

Last month it was an overuse injury, strained rib intercostals muscles which have been traced back to a tight rotator cuff and stiff shoulder. This was forcing other muscles to recruit while I was paddling and everything going into lock down. With plenty of massage, osteopathy, yoga, stretching, swimming and rehab I felt I was finally on the mend, things were finally coming good.

This week was my first good week of training, it was Saturday and I was ready to tackle the big SUP session for the week.  Not even 1/2 way through the session before a wave collected me, breaking my legrope and somehow being hit in the foot.  It wasn't until I looked at my foot to realise it was indeed a fin chop and there was now a huge flap (gross) and I was prime shark bait.

Thank goodness I was with my training mates that are clued up in first aid and rescue and with my coaches yellow shirt (which was now a red tourniquet) around my foot for pressure I was carried, paddled and driven to the nearest hospital emergency (thankyou team ROAR!)

Dripping wet and cold, I was told I had 'done a good job' and it was time for the happy gas so the local could go in ready for stitches.  That happy gas is good stuff...I chugged away like no ones business as the stitches were going in.  Feet are a sensitive part of the body!

So that has been my excitement for the weekend.  I still can't believe it  happened or what might have been if I was 2 metres further out the back in the surf but that's fate and I have to deal with what I have been dealt.  Gotta love the ups and downs that life bring.

On a brighter note I just signed up as an ambassador for a health product so I'll be able to tell you more in the coming weeks.

How was your weekend? I has to be better than mine....
