The Swell Sculpture Festival on Currumbin beachfront runs for two weeks and is celebrating it's 10th year in 2012. Today was day one of the festival so I scooted down and had a peek before the crowds arrive over the weekend.
I often wonder how some of the creations come to inspire the artists. Is it an event, and life experience or just an abstract mind? I do love how it challenges me to open up my own way of thinking and to look for hidden meanings in the pieces of art.
The festival is just as much for the adults as it is for the kids. That's the other good thing about visiting during the week - the kids can touch and explore and little more without feeling like they are always in someone else's shot.
There is a plaque with each entry, which I hope to go back and read individually, it gives you a little insight into what each one represents
I do love the 'towel people' , it reminds me of sitting at surf carnivals waiting for an event. The plaque on this entry was 'remember the days when we used to go the beach' ...uh huh! So fitting.
So, if you get the chance make sure you head on down, it really is something special.x
