As I was out paddling on my own about 2km along the coastline on my SUP recently it occurred to me how things have changed.
I still love to feel the adrenalin of putting myself on the line and achieving a goal but now there is that little voice in the back of my head. The voice that motherhood brings, the "Yes, the have responsibilities now" voice.
I mean, I try not to let negative thoughts enter my head and quickly try to shush them by diverting my attention to something else but what if an unforeseen accident did happen out in the water? My husband and girls would be waiting, yes I have my phone around my neck for this very reason but what for some reason I couldn't make the call?
Going for a mountain bike ride is the same deal. I'm on a rocky trail, and again the voice speaks "What if you fall off and break your arm? Who would look after the girls?"
I am not even the breadwinner of the household...use to be, but not now.
Sure, there are risks in everything we do but it is interesting how putting yourself in dangerous situations can make you think about trivial outcomes.
Apparently Keith Urban was quoted as saying recently he rates Nicole more important than his kids. His reasons were that she needs to be looked after in order for the children to be happy. Fair enough. I just find my list toppers are all on an even par.
What are the most important things to you? Can you rank them or are they on an even par?
